Bernhard Juchheim, 73, has always volunteered for the public good of Fulda and the region. Whether as Chairman of the Employers' Association of Eastern Hesse, as Vice President and President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, as Chairman of the Association "Friends and Sponsors of Fulda University of Applied Sciences" as well as the "Sponsors' Association of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Fulda University of Applied Sciences", as Chairman of the Association "Engineering High-Tech Cluster", as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the "Perspektiva gemeinnützige GmbH Fördergemeinschaft Theresienhof für Arbeit und Leben", as a supporter of the Children's Academy as well as in many other projects – he always had people and fair dealings with each other in a spirit of partnership in mind.

Bernhard Juchheim always asked himself "to what extent technology, innovations, and sustainable business can best contribute to making society better".

Willingness to create and sense of responsibility

Minister Boddenberg praised Juchheim as an entrepreneur with a creative will and a sense of responsibility, whose aim is to create good framework conditions for industry and thereby secure jobs in collaboration with politicians and administrators. With this philosophy he had developed JUMO as a global player and world market leader over decades. At the same time, he has always preserved the values and culture of a family business and reliable employer.

"We are honoring an entrepreneur who is not only a strong voice for business in and around Fulda. For many years, Bernhard Juchheim has also been a strong advocate of education and apprenticeship for young people, as well as social participation," the Minister said. The Minister President honored these achievements with the Hessian Order of Merit.

"Fulda needs personalities like Bernhard Juchheim"

Fulda's mayor, Dag Wehner, praised Bernhard Juchheim's extensive civic commitment to both the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as well as the Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the Children's Academy: "Our city needs personalities like him who take responsibility and are committed to society."
